Recorded in two weeks in the prestigious studio of Matthew E. White in Richmond Virginia, the album Gentlewoman, Rubyman brings together pairs of times detonating, avoiding the hits with commercial choices that are sometimes unexpected (Grease the Bee Gees !), interpreted by the singer of neo-folk, Flo Morrissey and the bearded american. Total of 10 pieces that pay tribute to the songwriters classics like Leonard Cohen and George Harrison, the rock of the Velvet Underground, but also contemporary artists such as James Blake or Frank Ocean. And the French are not left behind, since Charlotte Gainsbourg and Nino Ferrer are also on the tracklisting.
After we have released a first preview, Look at what the light did now American Kyle Field of Little Wings, the duo offers us the first version of the Looking for you Nino Ferrer – published originally in 1974 on the album Nino and Radiah :
The voice of Morrissey blends here in one of Matthew E. White, with flights to the sun and some arrangement psychédeliques, sublimating the prose of Ferrer. Hard not to fall in love with this version, touching. Look no further, you just found the soundtrack to your next romance.
