The new 4×4 compact Skoda could have the right in its declension muscled. Its development would be facilitated by the fact that the cousin Seat Ateca will soon be offered in Cupra 300 hp.
Skoda goes the SUV. After the family Kodiaq, visible in the concessions since a few weeks, the Czech has just presented the compact Karoq. Like its big brother, the one who pushes toward the exit of the Yeti will be in all likelihood declined in two versions, Scout (typed more adventurous), and Sportline.
For the latter, the changes affect only the look. But a real sporty variation could see the light of day. When the revelation of the self in Stockholm, Bernhard Maier, who runs the Skoda, said to Autocar that the project was in the study. The CEO specified that the brand felt an expectation of the customer for a SUV badgé RS.
The development of such a declination seems to be easy. The Karoq is nothing other than a Seat Ateca deeply restyled. Technically, the two models are almost identical. And as the spaniard is currently developing a variation Cupra with a power of about 300 hp, the work would be pre-chewed for Skoda !
Before launch, Skoda will no doubt study the economic viability of a Karoq RS. If a Ateca Cupra seems legitimate given the sporting pedigree of the Seat, the equivalent Czech will be more difficult to attract clients. As much as it has to be said honestly, the rumors of the new Skoda RS (Kodiaq, Superb) are regular and in the end the badge is always restricted to the Octavia.
