It comes in three types of screens LTPS DCI-P3. The Honor 8, Honor 9 have screens of 5.2 and 5.15-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels), respectively, so that the screen of 5.7 inches of the Honor 8 Pro has a definition QHD (2560 x 1440 pixels).

Here, the three screens should be of the same quality, as it is based on the same technological generation, this is not on this point that we will be able to differentiate between the two.

Design

If we find that the Honor 8 Pro looked like a great deal to the iPhone 7 Plus Apple during our test, this is not the case, the Honor 9, which keeps the design, rather unique, of Honor 8.

We thus find the back glass iridescent chassis, and a little curved to conform to the shape of the hand. Like on the Huawei P10, the fingerprint reader has been moved to the front of the phone, at the level of the Home key. The back wins, therefore, in sobriety, there are (as always with the manufacturer now) a system of double camera.

Performance

The Honor 9 Honor 8 Pro include a Kirin 960, the new chip high-end Huawei that was already to be found in the P10 and the Mate 9. The chip is supported by 4 or 6 Gb of RAM depending on the version, enough to ensure good performance in multi-tasking.

This chip is 10 to 18% more powerful depending on the applications that the Kirin 950 that can be found in the Honor 8. She holds the head to the other chips the top end of the market like the Snapdragon 835, although the latter has superior fineness of engraving is only 10 nm. The Honor 8 does not offer a model with more than 4 Gb of RAM, even if this amount of memory is still more than sufficient today.

The storage is also increased from one generation to the other, the Honor 8 Pro and the Honor 9 offer between 64 and 128 Gb of storage, while the Honor 8 offered only 32 or 64 Gb of storage. In all cases an SD card reader is available to expand the storage.

Camera

Once again, the Honor 9 Honor 8 Pro share the same characteristics concerning the camera. They both use the system of double camera 20 MP Monochrome + 12 MP RGB that we already know about the Huawei P10 and that we had rather convinced during our test.

The camera of the Honor 9 has truly benefited from an increase in the range compared to the one chosen for the Honor 8 in 2016. This model introduced the dual photo sensor 12 + 12-megapixel camera for the family Honor. It produced good quality photos, without that they are incredible no longer, and asked in particular a lot of the user settings.

Battery

The Honor 9 marks a new time, a progress report to the Honor 8, since its battery won 200 mAh to spend a total of 3 200 mAh. To compensate for its screen better defined and larger in size, the Honor 8 Pro incorporates a battery of 3,900 mAh which allows him to be one of the smartphones with the most durable on the market.

They enjoy the fast-charging of Huawei in USB Type-C.

Availability and prices

It is here that the comparison with the Honor 9 stops. The brand has not yet revealed the release date and the price in France. The Honor 8 had been launched at 399 euros and the new phone should also be offered in the same range of rates.

On the other hand the Honor 8 Pro is a line above since it is found at 550 euros, a rate closest to the Huawei P10 of the house mother.

Conclusion

Without knowing the price, it is impossible to comment on the report quality/price of Honor 9. However, we can see by comparing its characteristics to the Honor, 8 and the Honor 8 Pro that the brand achieves a nice climb in the range with this product.

On paper, it is not far from being able to compete with the Huawei P10, which should, however, be sold for considerably more expensive. Its design is very unique and is closer to what we knew with the Honor 8.
8 Honor 8 Buy to 263€ product data Sheet Read the test forum 9 Honor 8 Pro Buy for 549€ product data Sheet Read the test
